Bring Your Children Closer Together With A Bunk Bed

In my opinion there are two types of sibling relationships; those who shared a bedroom and those who did not. There is a certain amount of bonding that occurs when two children grow up together staying in the same room. I am very close with my sister, and can still remember all the nights quietly staying up past our bedtime talking in our bunk beds. Having your children share a bunk bed can set the stage for a close relationship for life, and should be considered even if you live in a giant mansion with 10 bedrooms.

For those of us not lucky enough to have that huge mansion, bunk beds are the most efficient way to maximize your children’s room when you have a smaller house. A bunk bed can be a space saver, a toy cabinet, and a tree house all at the same time. If you are not convinced about how much extra room there will be then run this simple test. Remove one of the two beds completely from the room, and position the other where you would set up your new bed. This will show you exactly how much extra space this will create. You will probably be surprised how huge of a difference this really makes.

Your kids will also be grateful for this change. It will be viewed as fun and exciting, and they will love you all the more for it. They will get to choose which bunk they want, and will view the arrangement as a fort and not a boring bed. Instead of needing an additional room for all these toys (in smaller homes this usually means the living room and hallways), there will be plenty of space to store and use all of their precious toys.

Safety is always a concern for parents, and many of you may be worried about the safety of bunk beds. This is a legitimate concern, as the child who has the top bunk will need to climb up the ladder in order to get into bed each night. It is not recommended that children under the age of six use a top level. Make sure the bed you purchase is certified as safe by the government, and has a guardrail to ensure a sleeping child does not fall off.

All parents hope that their kids will be incredibly close and have a great relationship over the course of their entire life. Sharing a room with a bunk bed is the perfect way to plant this seed.
